Athletics has always been important to my family; my father played quarterback for his high school football team when they won upper-state SC championship, and he had the highest batting average on his college baseball team (Furman University). Before I even reached the age of five years, my father had taught me how to swing and hit T-Ball. Soon after that, I could hit a fast-pitched baseball and slide into home plate. Unfortunately, during the 1970s girls were not allowed to play on baseball teams, so I played on girls' softball teams.

Once I began law school and then again once I began full-time law practice, my sedentary lifestyle took its toll on my health and my body: I gained 25 pounds in one year. I knew that a strong fitness program was necessary to regain my body and health. I chose The FIRM because it was one of the first workouts for women that emphasized weight training combined with aerobics, and this type of training is consistent with what my father has always instilled in me. I lost that 25 pounds; the results from The FIRM were amazing. Not only did my body shape and tone improve, but my entire attitude changed as well. Since then, I have given birth to two children, both by cesarean section, yet The FIRM has kept me fit, healthy, and strong. The weight training and cardio benefits of The FIRM workout remain my motivation to work with women (and men) of all ages to achieve their highest potential in personal fitness, strength, bone density, heart health, and overall physical and emotional well-being!
